Pick of the Bedford Fringe!

pick of the fringe

It’s been a while since we updated you on all of the goings on in the Tree Shadow Theatre world. And as we’ve bee pretty busy these past few months, we thought we’d better let you know what’s been going on.

After our sell-out performance at the From Devon with Love festival this January, we were extremely excited to take our show to some new venues.

We began at the Winston’s Pub Theatre in Seaton, were we were treated so well, and with so much enthusiasm. It was a joy to be part of the first season of a new regional venue. They are closing now to refurbish and reopen next year with a more fit-for-purpose space, and we can’t wait to go back.

Our audiences said:
“Absolutely bloody brilliant”
“You did this piece great justice. A gift for comedy and pathos and the quick switch between should lead you to a great future”
“Well written and well acted”
“A refined piece of theatre. Well crafted sibling relationship with a poignant revelation. Subtle, darkly humorous. Great performances. A really tight drama.”

Next was the Alma Tavern
Though we had a slight set-back with the pub underneath the theatre being closed for refurbishment for the duration of our run there (which was rather off-putting for potential audiences), we still had a jolly time with the audiences who did come! And Bristol definitely offered the friendliest responses while we were out flyering, so hurrah for Bristol!

On to the N16 Theatre in London.
Here’s what London had to say:
‘A beautiful piece. Stunning performances – sensitive and beautiful acting.’
‘Simply awesome’
‘Fantastic. Loved it!’
‘Dark comedy done right’

And then finally, the wonderful Bedfringe!
Though it be small, it be mighty…or something like that…
We had a fairly modest audience in Bedford, but my word, did we have fun. Such a lovely theatre, and the staff running the festival really know how to treat people. We couldn’t recommend it more as a festival, and we shall certainly be returning next year if we can.

Here’s what Bedford said:
‘This was worthy of the West End! Hooked from beginning to end’
‘A poignant and amusing piece in equal measure’
AND the lovely people at Bedfringe awarded us Pick of the Fringe!!!

We couldn’t really have asked for more!
But we have. So we will shortly be announcing dates for another Devon performance (or two) coming up in September. Our Devon dates have been by far the bestsellers, so we’ve decided to bid a final farewell to Waving Goodbye on our home turf.
